Islamabad-bound flight of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) carrying 40 persons has crashed on Wednesday near Abbottabad due to technical snag. Junaid Jamshed alongwith wife Ayesha Jamshed is also feared dead in the ill fated plan crash.
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has reported that the aircraft was confirmed crashed in a village near Havelian while spokesperson for the airline stated that an emergency response centre was activated.
PIA’s ATR-42 aircraft operating as PK-661 was scheduled to reach Islamabad but it lost contact with control tower. Captain Saleh Hayat was operating the flight. There were 40 passengers aboard the ill-fated craft which included renowned religious personality Junaid Jamshed and his wife Aisha Junaid.

Army has mobilised its resources including a copter and ground troops for immediate rescue operation.
Reportedly, known religious scholar Junaid Jamshed was onboard the flight along with his family as they were returning to Islamabad from Chitral.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chitral was travelling to the federal capital using the same flight.
Officials concerned have stated that it would require around 40 minutes for rescue teams to access the crash site.

Reportedly, the renowned singer’s brother confirmed that he was on board the flight, along with his wife.
Junaid Jamshed is a famous Islamic preacher and travels extensively for preaching purposes. Jamshed was already in Chitral for preaching-related work.
Eyewitnesses said they had seen a plane crash in a hilly area near Havelian, near the Ordinance factory. Clouds of smoke could be seen rising from the area of the reported crash.
Ground rescue teams had been sent to the area, sources said.
